Mass, brunch mark Haydus' 50th anniversary



XYOUNGSTOWN -- John J. and Joyce D. Haydu of South Bon Air Avenue are being honored today for their golden wedding anniversary with a 9 a.m. Mass at St. George Byzantine Catholic Church and a brunch afterward at A La Cart Catering in Canfield.
Hosting the affair are their children and spouses, Bob and Gretchen Haydu of McDonald, Karen and Chris Beil of New Springfield, and Nancy and John Mashiska of Austintown.
Mrs. Haydu worked for Packard Electric in Warren, Weatherbee Coats in Youngstown and the Meat Depot in Canfield. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Tjaatje DeWitt Chapter of the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century.
Mr. Haydu was a salesman for Addressograph Multigraph in Youngstown before retiring, then worked for Advanced Marking Systems, Stambaugh Thompson Co. and Nomis Printing. He is a Navy veteran, having served as a seaman first class on the USS Libra; belongs to American Legion Post 235, Girard; and was a member of the former Lester A.C. Men's Bowling League.
He and the former Joyce D. Forney were married May 7, 1955, in St. George Greek Catholic Church, Youngstown, where Mrs. Haydu is a lifelong member and manages its bingo games and he is a member. The couple have six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
