BOXING 35 high school bouts scheduled as KO Drugs advances to round 2



YOUNGSTOWN -- The second night of the KO Drugs High School Boxing Tournament will be Tuesday at the St. Nicholas Byzantine Center at the Grove, located on Shady Run Road.
The first of 35 scheduled fights is set for 7 p.m.
Several defending champions are on the card, including Champion's Brandon Holmes. He will fight Casper Rich of Canfield in a middleweight bout.
Tom Peluso from Struthers is a two-time KO Drugs champion. He will be in a welterweight bout with Tom Byle from McDonald.
Rawshean Haynes of Warren Harding, a 2004 underclass junior lightweight champion, will battle Steve Datchuk from Niles in a upperclass lightweight bout.
Defending underclass bantamweight champ Zach Smith from Boardman will fight Tyler Hazen from Sharpsville in an upperclass bout.
Canfield has eight participants expected to fight while Boardman has seven and Austintown Fitch and Keystone (Pa.) have six each.
Struthers and McDonald will have three participants each with Girard, Hubbard, Liberty, Life Skills, Poland and Ursuline having two.
As usual, there will be 45-second rounds, 18-ounce gloves and padded headgear.
