Lowellville pounds out win in Division IV opener at Sebring



Julie Peterson led the Rockets with a double and triple and four RBI's.
SEBRING -- Juli Peterson tripled and doubled to drive in four runs as the Lowellville High softball team opened the Division IV tournament with a 10-0 victory over Sebring.
Carla Blinsky was the winning pitcher as she tossed a three-hitter and struck out three batters.
Lowellville (11-7) advances to a sectional final game next Wednesday at Leetonia or East Canton.
Jackson-Milton 13, Lordstown 2
NORTH JACKSON -- Kay Bruss had three hits and drove in five runs for the Bluejays (7-11). One of her hits was a home run.
Winning pitcher Krista Kiraly struck out 12 batters. She also had two hits and two RBIs.
Next Wednesday, Jackson-Milton plays a sectional finale at Windham.
Mineral Ridge 2, McDonald 0
McDONALD -- Jamie Goodman, Melanie Sparks and Kaili Gehring each had two hits for the Rams (11-9). Emily Sheller doubled.
Gehring (8-4) was the winning pitcher. Next Wednesday, the Rams will be home against Mathews in a sectional finale.
For McDonald, Michelle Krumpak had two hits and Courtney Vitello doubled.
Division II
NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Rachel Dorsey tripled and doubled, and drove in four runs as New Philadelphia (13-8) shut out East Liverpool, 15-0.
Lacey Rotonda and Sam Mahaffey had two hits.
East Liverpool is 7-11.
