COURT Bond set for man accused of retaliation

No trial date has been set on the charges.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court set bond at $350,000 for Kenneth Favors of Youngstown, charged with threatening to kill Judge R. Scott Krichbaum and his wife.
Favors, 51, of West Delason Avenue, was arraigned Tuesday before Judge Evans on charges of intimidation, retaliation and two counts of telecommunications harassment.
Favors has no lawyer. Judge Evans said one would be appointed as soon as possible. No trial date was set.
The intimidation, retaliation and one of the telecommunications harassment charges are felonies, and the maximum punishment is 11 years in prison.
The other telecommunications harassment charge is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in the county jail.
Allegation
The county sheriff's department said Favors, who was in the county jail on a charge of breaking and entering, placed two collect calls from the jail to Judge Krichbaum's home on April 20. Both calls were taken by the judge's wife.
In the first call, the caller threatened to kill the judge. A few minutes later, the same person called and threatened her.
The jail's surveillance cameras recorded Favors making phone calls at the same time Mrs. Krichbaum got the threatening calls, authorities said.
Favors' breaking and entering case was originally set to be heard by Judge Krichbaum, and the new case also was assigned to him. Both cases will be transferred by administrative Judge Maureen A. Cronin, court officials said.
