BRIDGEWORK Route 45 will close in 2 places
The fire chief will appoint six firefighters.
CHAMPION -- State Route 45 will be closed for the summer at two spots just outside the township.
Ohio Department of Transportation will close the bridge on Mahoning Avenue N.W., state Route 45, between the former CSC Inc. entrance and North River Road to replace a bridge. Work will begin May 31 and end Sept. 30.
ODOT closed State Route 45 Monday in Bristol Township, between the Champion border and Hyde Shaffer Road, for the replacement of another bridge. The work is scheduled to be done Aug. 31.
In other business at the township trustees meeting Monday, Fire Chief Lewis Austin said he plans to appoint six firefighters: Thomas Dempsey of Bristol, James Donahue and William Shea of Champion, Renee Kollman and Christopher Owens of Lordstown and Scott McCloud of Warren Township. They will bring the staff up to 30.
Spraying for mosquitoes
Trustees also announced that Alexander Pest Control will spray pesticides for mosquitoes June 8, July 6 and Aug. 3. The spraying will begin at 6 p.m. and will take approximately eight hours. Any residents objecting to this may contact Road Supervisor Ronald Hickox.
The Trumbull County Health Department will provide mosquito larvicide pellets to residents who have an accumulation of stagnant water. For more information call (330) 675-2489.
