BOARDMAN -- The Boardman Police Department is offering residential and business security surveys.
The purpose of these surveys is to show the resident or business owner/manager how their structure may be "hardened" against criminal acts, police said.
The survey begins with an examination of the property and its risks beginning at the perimeter, proceeding to the exterior of the building and then moving to its interior. For more information, call (330) 729-2062.
Fugitive turns himself in
AUSTINTOWN -- A man wanted by Boardman police on a domestic violence warrant turned himself in to Austintown police over the weekend.
Miles Hogan, 41, of Boardman, was the FBI and Crime Stoppers of Greater Youngstown's Fugitive of the Week in The Vindicator on Sunday. He was charged with domestic violence against his girlfriend last month.
Death investigated
BAZETTA -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a man found in Mosquito Lake. The body of Donald Siko, 51, of Ivy Hill Circle, was found Monday afternoon by a fisherman, township firefighters said.
Sgt. Gerald Funelli, of the OSHP, said he will not know the cause of Siko's death until an autopsy is completed by the Trumbull County coroner's office. The autopsy was scheduled to be done Tuesday, Funelli said. Firefighters said a suicide note was found in the man's home.
Route 5 to be repaired
WARREN -- The Ohio Department of Transportation plans to spend $1 million in 2007 to rehabilitate and resurface state Route 5, Elm Road, from the Warren bypass to state Route 46 in Cortland.
The project will include widening Route 5 at Burnett Drive in Cortland for installation of a left-turn lane and a center turn lane south of Burnett Drive. Also included is the installation of a traffic signal at Warren-Meadville Road.
Work on the project will begin in spring 2007. Questions or comments regarding this project may be submitted to ODOT by April 14.
Artists to be honored
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- On Sunday, an artist's reception will be held for the 730 area pupils who have artwork in the 16th Annual Very Special Arts Exhibit.
The reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pew Fine Arts Center, Grove City College, and is open to the public.
The show features works of pupils in kindergarten through grade 12 from the 27 school districts in Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties.
The artwork -- drawing, painting, sculpture, fiber, ceramics and computer art -- is juried and is displayed in one of three categories: jurors choice, honorable mention or group projects.
Very Special Arts is an international nonprofit organization affiliated with the education programs of the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. It is designed to give special needs children and adults the opportunity to develop and showcase their creative abilities.
Worship services slated
NEW WATERFORD -- Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46, will present Friday Night Flow (Fresh Levels of Worship) at 7 p.m. the first Friday of the month beginning this week.

Pets up for adoption
BOARDMAN -- Petco, 317 Boardman-Poland Road, will participate in the eighth annual National Pet Adoption Days on Saturday and Sunday.
Petco Stores nationwide will host in-store adoptions. With the support of Petfinder.com, the nation's leading Internet-based animal-adoption organization, Petco and Petco Foundation matched 12,511 animals with homes during the 2004 campaign.
Petco does not sell dogs or cats; however, it will offer new pet owners adoption gift booklets with up to $180 in discounts on Petco products and services.
