Squad arrests 6 in 3 separate raids

Crack cocaine, marijuana, heroin, cash and weapons were confiscated Thursday evening.
YOUNGSTOWN -- An assault rifle and plenty of ammo hidden in a dryer and packaged-for-sale crack and heroin were taken during a raid at 197 W. Laclede Ave., police said.
Members of the vice squad used search warrants -- and a battering ram -- Thursday evening to enter three South Side homes and make six arrests. A man and two women went to jail; a man and two women were released on citations.
At 197 West Laclede, Ron Gilbert, 28, of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, was arrested on charges of aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine and aggravated trafficking in heroin. Police said they found a bag with two rocks of crack, nine packaged-for-sale bags of crack, seven bindles (doses) of heroin and $395 in Gilbert's pants pockets.
The assault rifle and ammo found in the dryer were taken but no charge was filed.
Suspects' charges
The resident of 197 West Laclede, Latrice Bennett, 22, was issued a citation charging her with drug abuse (marijuana). Police said a pile of loose marijuana was on the dining room table where she was seated when they entered.
At arraignment Friday in municipal court, Judge Elizabeth A. Kobly set Gilbert's bond at $50,000. He will be back in court April 1 for a preliminary hearing. Bennett will return April 28 for a pretrial.
At 23 Ellenwood Ave., the resident, Ramona Milender, 35, was charged with aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine. Police said they found 10 packaged-for-sale bags of crack in her pants pocket.
Her bond was set at $15,000 and she will be back in court April 1.
At 907 Parkwood Ave., the resident, Larry Ingram, 44, was charged with aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia (crack pipe). Police said they found eight packaged-for-sale bags of crack under a couch cushion where Ingram had been sitting and a crack pipe on the floor.
Ingram's bond was set at $10,000 and he will return to court April 1.
Two others in the house at the time of the raid, Peter White, 46, of Parkwood Avenue, and Shuntell Taylor, 32, of Wilbur Avenue, were each charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (crack pipe). They were issued citations. Neither showed for arraignment Friday in municipal court and Judge Kobly issued warrants for their arrest, the clerk of court's office said.
