Seventy-five area high school students qualified for Ohio state competition during the recent District 15 Lake-to-River Science Day held at Youngstown State University. Eligible pupils will compete



Kayla Rantamaki, Chaney High, received a $2,000 Scholarship contributed by Youngstown State University, and a $100 savings bond contributed by American Society for Quality Control, Youngstown-Warren Section 0805.
Joshua Triplett, Rayen High, received a $1,000 Scholarship for any Ohio or Pennsylvania College contributed by WCI Steel, the Dean's Award of Distinction from YSU-College of Arts & amp; Sciences, and a $100 savings bond contributed by American Society for Quality Control -Youngstown-Warren Section 0805.
Katlin Bowman, Columbiana High, received a $150 savings bond contributed by General Motors Lordstown Assembly, the Dean's Award of Distinction from YSU College of Arts & amp; Sciences, a $50 savings bond from American Water Works Association, and the Governor's Award for Excellence from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

Participation
Participation in District 15 Lake-to-River Science Day offers young people from grades five through 12 opportunities to practice the principles of scientific research; meet people from other schools, academia, industries and businesses interested in science; and to earn recognition for their achievements. Judges evaluate four major categories for each project: knowledge achieved, use of the scientific method, originality and clarity of expression.
