Kids Fun Fest to promote child safety and play
SALEM -- The Columbiana County Child Care Provider Association will sponsor a Kids Fun Fest on April 16 at Kent State University Salem Campus to promote child safety and educational play.
The Kids Fest will aim to help parents and child care providers find inexpensive ways to educate children while they have fun, said Dr. Tsunghui Tu, an assistant professor of Early Childhood Education at the Salem branch.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and children ages 13 and younger can participate in various activities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. free of charge. Tu and her pupils will coordinate the activities, which include crafts, playing with clowns, a childhood version of Jeopardy and a sandbox. Refreshments also will be provided.
While the children play, parents are invited to browse tables for information about child health and improving child safety inside and outside of the home. They also may attend periodic presentations by Brian K. Hollands, the creator of the toddler teaching program Hip-Hop-Ademics, which teaches children words, colors and math using rhythm and music.
Funding for the event comes from the Columbiana County Child Care Provider Association and donations from child-related organizations. For more information, contact the association secretary, Robin Earl, at (330) 427-0452.
