PIAA ROUNDUP Friday's other games

Steelton-Highspire 70,Greater Johnstown 48
HERSHEY, Pa. -- Tristan Crawford couldn't have asked for a better way to end his high school career, scoring 30 points to lead Steelton-Highspire in the Class AAA championship game. "This meant a lot to us," said Crawford, a senior guard. "This topped off our season and topped off our careers. This is the best." Crawford had plenty to do with the Rollers' first state championship since 2000 and third in eight years. He scored 17 points during the decisive second quarter, made 11 of 19 shots overall and even chipped in five rebounds. "I was knocking down shots and I just continued to shoot," Crawford said. "My teammates knew I was feeling it, so they continued to give me the ball." Tramayne Hawthorne scored 11 points, and Jerel Layman had eight points and six rebounds for Steelton (32-3). Derek Rose scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Kurt Hoffman had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Trojans (27-4). Johnstown was a decided underdog against District 3 champion Steelton-Highspire, which was led by two 2,000-point career scorers in Hawthorne and Crawford. "We weren't prepared for their speed," Hoffman said. "That is the most athletic team we've played all season."
Oakland Catholic 55, Cheltenham 37
Now it can be revealed exactly what Oakland Catholic's players had under their jerseys -- a motivational slogan. Moments after winning the girls Class AAAA championship, several players ripped off their jerseys in a Brandi Chastain-like moment to show "Can You Taste the Chocolate?" handwritten on their undershirts. "We finally tasted it," said Erica Prosser, who scored 10 points. No one except the players knew they wore that slogan on their shirts for every game this year. It was something special they wanted to do together to rally the team back to Hershey for the fifth time in six seasons. Eve Pyle scored 20 points and had nine rebounds, and Brianne O'Rourke added 13 points and eight rebounds for Oakland Catholic (30-2). The Golden Eagles also won titles this decade in 2001 and 2003. Antonia Gale scored 21 points and had eight rebounds for the Panthers (26-7). No other player scored more than six points.
Delone Catholic 47,Westmont Hilltop 43
With the Delone Catholic fans chanting "Three-peat!" from the opening tip to the buzzer, the Squirettes delivered a little slice of history. Delone Catholic became only the second Class AA school to win three straight state titles, getting 21 points from Meredith Cox. The Squirettes (32-3) used an 8-0 run in the closing minutes, scoring twice off Westmont turnovers, to join Cranberry (1992-94) as the other school with three straight championships. Delone beat Bishop Guilfoyle last year and Girard in 2003. Kim Staub had 10 points and seven rebounds, and Marisa Elliot also scored 10 points for Delone. Kaitlin Urban scored 13 points, Katie Lintner added 11 points and Kelly Britcher had nine points and seven rebounds for Westmont Hilltop (30-3).
