Archbishop of San Francisco honors Yorks



SAN FRANCISCO -- Denise and John York and the San Francisco 49ers will be honored by the archbishop of San Francisco, the Most Rev. William J. Levada, for their "Outstanding Corporate Philanthropy."
They are to be honored at the eighth annual Loaves & amp; Fishes Awards Dinner today at the Merchants Exchange Building's historic Julia Morgan Ballroom. The Honorable Willie Brown, former mayor of San Francisco, will introduce the Yorks at the black-tie affair.
The 49ers Foundation, under the leadership of the Yorks, focuses on education, health care and youth development. During the past three years, the foundation has distributed more than $2.5 million in grants to charitable organizations in the Bay Area.
Since 1998, the Loaves & amp; Fishes Awards Dinner has honored those who have demonstrated exemplary philanthropic work in Bay Area communities.
All proceeds from the awards dinner benefit the programs of Catholic Charities CYO. The event has raised more than $3.5 million for Catholic Charities CYO.
