Woman killed, four children hurt in Columbus fire



YOUNGSTOWN -- Dr. Frederick M. Denny, a scholar in the field of Islamic studies from the University of Colorado, will give two lectures on Tuesday at Youngstown State University.
"The Spiritual-Intellectual Hospitality of Islam and Muslims: Reflections of a Christian Scholar" will be presented at 2 p.m. at Schwebel Auditorium, Moser Hall.
"Muslim-Christian Relations: Boundaries and Gateways" will be presented at 6:30 p.m. in the Presidential Suite of Kilcawley Center.
Denny wrote an "Introduction to Islam" in 1994 and co-wrote "Jews, Christians, Muslims: A comparative Introduction to Monotheistic Religions" in 1998.
He is the editor of the book series "Studies in Comparative Religion," published by the University of South Carolina Press, and has written articles about Islam and Muslims in the contemporary world.
The lectures are free and open to the public.
