SEVENTEEN MAGAZINE
Cameron Diaz, 32, is hittin' the road as the star and producer of MTV's new adventure reality series, "Trippin'." She's going places no other stars have gone before ... and she invited us along for the ride!
Reality TV: "I don't watch much TV, but I do love MTV's 'Wildboyz.' I've also been known to tune in to 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' from time to time. I'd say that 'American Chopper' and 'World Poker Tour' are also guilty pleasures of mine."
Don't say "reality": "I don't think of 'Trippin" as a reality show. Although the moments can be spontaneous, the trips are well-thought-out and planned in advance. We know where we're going and what we'll be doing there, and the cameras are just there to document it. It's not like we're being followed by strangers with cameras who are trying to intrude on the journey -- they're our partners and they allow the audience to see and hear what we're experiencing."
Favorite destination: "Bhutan was the country that surprised and amazed me the most. The people there are so centered and are very aware of their environment and preserving the resources they have. They are a great example for the rest of us."
Roughing it: "We all bunk together and we have a great time. Everybody is totally down with the experience -- no one comes expecting it to be something other than what it is."
Travel essentials: "I can't live without my water, sunscreen, turkey jerky, my toiletries and my Ugg boots."
Quote/unquote
"I'm clearly not a fashionista. I wear my same jacket jeans and Vans skater shoes every day." -- Actress Keri Russell, in People.
"I've done the Funky Chicken and the Hokey Pokey. I have two kids. I've done the Macarena with my kids." -- Nelly, in J-14 magazine.
"I feed [my pet] boa constrictor frozen rats, so people open my freezer and they're like, 'Uh, dead mice?' I'm like, 'Yeah, that's food.' I care for [the snake] and keep it happy, but when it gets full-grown, it'll be able to eat me!" -- Actor Frankie Muniz, in People.
Hot site
For girls looking to stay on the cutting edge of fashion, THISIT (http://www.thisit.com) is, well, it. The recently launched Web site promotes the juniors section at Macy's department stores. Even if you're not a Macy's shopper, THISIT (pronounced "This is it") has features style-savvy teens might enjoy.
THISIT's primary focus is, not surprisingly, clothing. The site profiles the hottest trends of the season, such as colored pants, shrunken jackets and camisoles and provides links to Macy's online catalog if you wish to purchase them.
Fashion isn't the only thing you'll find on the site, however. Using photos and video clips, the makeover section shows how hair, makeup and styling can transform plain Janes into model-worthy divas and offers helpful tips. THISIT also features music videos from up-and-coming artists like fan_3, Julie Roberts and Lindsay Lohan. If you like what you hear, the site links to the iTunes Music Store for you to preview/purchase an exclusive playlist with songs from THISIT's featured artists.
Part magazine, part catalog, THISIT promises to keep you up to date on the latest trends.
