COURT 9 scheduled to appear on gambling charges



All of the charges are misdemeanors.
AUSTINTOWN -- Nine people are to appear next month in Mahoning County Court here to answer charges of illegal gambling stemming from a weekend raid.
Police, along with agents from the Ohio Department of Public Safety's liquor enforcement division, took nearly $12,000 in cash, gaming tables and other equipment in an early-morning raid Saturday at Theodore's Banquet Center/T & amp;G Lounge, North Canfield-Niles Road.
Charged
Misdemeanor gambling charges were filed Thursday against:
UTheodore J. Terlesky, 62, Norquest Boulevard, the owner of the facility; gambling, operating a gambling house, possession of criminal tools and public gaming;
UPeter E. Ginnis, 54, Regent Street, Campbell; gambling and possession of criminal tools;
UJackie K. Bayus, 35, South Canfield-Niles Road, Canfield; a bartender at the business, complicity to gambling;
UJoe R. Diorio, 63, McCartney Road, Lowellville; gambling, possession of criminal tools;
UDavid H. Dodds, 38, North Canton; gambling and possession of criminal tools;
UJohn E. Hazimihalis, 62, Struthers-Liberty Road, Youngstown; gambling, possession of criminal tools;
UJoseph A. Hanna, 62, Canterbury Lane, Boardman; gambling and possession of criminal tools;
UVictor Maillis, 61, Flagler Lane, Youngstown, who police say rented the hall; gambling, operating a gambling house, possession of criminal tools and public gaming;
UVincent S. Orban Jr., 72, of Barberton; gambling and possession of criminal tools.
They are to appear in court April 4.
A suspected illegal barbut game was listed on the warrant as the reason for the search.
Police had been watching the establishment since January.
The business was charged with four administrative violations of permitting gambling and one violation of allowing consumption of alcohol not purchased at the premises.
The state Liquor Control Commission is expected to conduct a hearing on those suspected violations within a few months.
