Teacher hurt in fight
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 42-year-old teacher at Choffin Career Center on Wood Street injured her knee when she was knocked down while trying to keep a 17-year-old girl from attacking another student Monday, police said.
The girl was still combative when police arrived and Mace was used to bring her under control, reports show. The teacher was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
The Miami Street girl was arrested on charges of assault on a teacher and resisting arrest and taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center. She was also suspended from school for 10 days.

LIBERTY -- The school board will meet in special session at 6:30 p.m. Monday to discuss proposing a pay-to-play program if the district's levy is defeated at the May primary election. The meeting will be held in the high school community room. The district is again asking voters to approve a five-year, 7.9-mill emergency levy. The levy was rejected by voters three times last year.
Naked man laughs it off
AUSTINTOWN -- The manager of a Kimberly Road apartment complex told police that one of the tenants, a 6-foot-1-inch, 240-pound man, has a habit of standing in front his apartment door naked.
The man, 52, had been in the habit of leaving the door of his apartment open and standing in front of it with no clothes on for about a month, most recently Tuesday.
When she walked up to talk to the resident, he said, "Oh, you finally caught me," and laughed, the manager told police. The man also laughed when police talked to him, reports say. No charges have been filed.
New patrolmen sworn in
WARREN -- The city is bringing aboard two new patrolmen, helping to fulfill a commitment Mayor Michael O'Brien made to city voters last year.
A swearing-in ceremony is set for 11 a.m. Saturday for Eric Laprocina and Sean Stephens, both of Warren.
It was announced last December that the city had an unexpected $200,000 windfall in income tax revenues that it would use to hire additional police officers.
Voters were told last summer that more officers would be hired with their approval of a half percent income tax for safety forces.
O'Brien had said new police hirings would be phased in this year if money became available. A possible third hiring will wait until a review of the city's first-quarter budget. Three were hired in 2004 of the 10 originally proposed.

Clemons, whose last known address was on Chatem Lane in Youngstown, is accused of distributing crack cocaine in the first count and cocaine hydrochloride in the second.
