Kent State bows out in OT

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Antonio Haynes scored 29 points and had three steals, leading Western Kentucky to an 88-80 overtime victory over Kent State in an NIT opening round game Wednesday night.
Anthony Winchester scored 20 points and Courtney Lee added 17 for the Hilltoppers (22-8), who generated 33 points off Kent State's season-high 28 turnovers.
Jay Youngblood scored a career-high 29 points on 13-of-18 shooting for the Golden Flashes (20-13).
Vanderbilt 67, Indiana 60
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Corey Smith had 25 points and Vanderbilt held off a late Indiana rally. Shan Foster had 11 points for the Commodores (19-13). Bracey Wright finished with 17 points and four rebounds, and Robert Vaden scored 13 for Indiana (15-14).

OXFORD, Ohio -- Nile Murry hit an 18-foot jumper with four seconds left for Texas Christian (20-13). RedHawks (19-11) senior Chet Mason was called for an offensive foul with the scored tied at 58 and 35.5 seconds remaining, leading to Murry's game-winner. Mason finished with a game-high 22 points. Corey Santee led the Horned Frogs with 18 points.
Buffalo 81, Drexel 76, OT
AMHERST, N.Y. -- Mark Bortz had 20 points and Turner Battle added 19 to lift Buffalo (23-9). Mario Jordan contributed 12 points in the win for the Bulls. Jeremiah King had a career-high 25 points to lead Drexel (17-12).
Saint Joseph's 53, Hofstra 44
PHILADELPHIA -- Saint Joseph's got an emotional lift from John Bryant's return to action and Pat Carroll scored 16 points to lead the Hawks. Dwayne Jones added 12 points and 15 rebounds, and Dwayne Lee had 14 points for the Hawks (20-11). Bryant was in the starting lineup three weeks after his arm was broken on a hard foul ordered by Temple coach John Chaney. Antoine Agudio scored 16 points for the Pride (21-9).
Georgetown 64, Boston U. 34
WASHINGTON -- Jeff Green and Darrel Owens had 17 points apiece, and Georgetown coach John Thompson III got his first postseason victory. Rashad Bell scored 14 points to lead Boston University (20-9), which lost its 11th straight postseason game.
Davidson 77, Virginia Commonwealth 62
RICHMOND, Va. -- Brendan Winters scored 14 points and Davidson (22-8) used a 26-5 run spanning the halves to take command. Nick George and Michael Doles, who played his final game at VCU, led the Rams (19-13) with 20 points each.
Memphis 90, Northeastern 65
MEMPHIS, Tenn. --Jeremy Hunt scored a career-high 24 points and five Memphis (20-15) players scored in double figures. Northeastern (21-10) played without guard Jose Juan Barea, who was suspended for unnecessarily rough play while scrambling for a loose ball in the team's loss to Vermont in the America East championship game. Marcus Barnes led Northeastern with 19 points.
Maryland 85, Oral Roberts 72
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Travis Garrison had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Maryland (17-12) ended a four-game losing streak. Mike Jones scored 18 and Will Bowers added a career-high 14 for the Terrapins. Caleb Green had 23 points and 16 rebounds, and Ken Tutt scored 18 points for Oral Roberts (25-8).

WICHITA, Kan. -- Jamar Howard scored 21 points and Kyle Wilson added 20 to lead Wichita State (21-9). Randy Burns had 16 points and Sean Ogirri chipped in 14 for Wichita State, which will play Western Kentucky. Andre Owens scored a season-high 33 to lead the Cougars (18-14), who ended the season with four straight losses.
SW Missouri State 105, Rice 82
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Tamarr Maclin scored 20 points to lead Southwest Missouri State (19-12) to a win in its first postseason game in five years. Richael Harris led Rice (19-12) with 24 points. Morris Almond scored 14 and Brock Gillespie added 10.
Texas A & amp;M 82, Clemson 74
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Freshman center Joseph Jones scored a season-high 25 points to lift Texas A & amp;M to its first postseason win in 23 years. Acie Law added 12 points and seven assists, and Bobby Leach had 13 points for the Aggies (20-9), who were making their first postseason appearance in 11 years. A & amp;M will face DePaul in the second round. Freshman guard Cliff Hammonds scored a season-high 26 points to lead Clemson (16-16), which lost in its first postseason game since the 1999 NIT.
