WEEKEND EVENT Enhancing homes and gardens the focus at Austintown center



Antiques and collectibles will be appraised for free.
AUSTINTOWN -- The Greater Youngstown Home and Garden Show will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Austintown Exposition Center.
The center is the former Ames Building at the Austintown Plaza on Mahoning Avenue.
The show is full of exhibitors featuring items to enhance the home and yard, including windows and doors, decks and patios, pools and hot tubs, decorative curbing, patio stone, faux painting and much, much more.
Event hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6. Seniors citizens get in for $5 and those under 16 can get in free.
Soaps star
Another attraction at the show will be Deacon Sharpe, one of the stars of the soap "The Bold and the Beautiful." Sharpe (Sean Kanan) has been on the show for four years and was a star of "General Hospital" for five years before that with the character name A.J. Quartermaine. He also has numerous TV shows and movie credits to his name and is filming a movie on location in Italy. He will appear from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Those attending can have their antiques and collectibles professionally appraised for free by Dave's Antiques and Collectibles. They can get cooking tips from culinary Chef Nate of O'Donald's, who will speak on pairing wines with foods. There will be other seminars as well.
