MAHONING COUNTY Raid nets cash, dice and tables

No criminal charges have been filed.
AUSTINTOWN -- Police and liquor enforcement agents seized nearly $12,000 and equipment used in a suspected illegal dice game from a North Canfield-Niles Road business.
The officers and agents from the Ohio Department of Public Safety's liquor enforcement division searched Theodore's Banquet Center/T & amp;G Lounge early Saturday.
The warrant listed a suspected barbut game as the reason for the search.
Kenneth Cardinal, an assistant Mahoning County prosecutor, said charges are expected to be filed. Officers from the township's Problem Oriented Policing unit had been watching the business since January, Cardinal said.
There were 14 people inside of from Mahoning, Trumbull, Summit and Stark counties.
Besides the cash, officers took dice, two gaming tables and a rake used to clear dice and money from the tables, the prosecutor said.
A man at the business referred questions to Ted Terlesky, who is listed as one of the shareholders in T & amp;G Drive & amp; Lounge Inc., the liquor permit holder.
Terlesky, of Norquest Boulevard, couldn't be reached.
Violations charged
The business was charged with four administrative violations of permitting gambling and one violation of allowing consumption of alcohol not purchased at the premises.
One of the permitting charges accuses the business owner of operating a gambling house.
Richard Cologie of the state agency said violations as well as the owner's defense will be heard by the Liquor Control Commission in 60 to 90 days.
If the commission upholds the violations, the liquor permit could be suspended or revoked or the owner could be fined, Cologie said.
