COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Missouri scored 11 runs in the second inning and Youngstown State stranded all 12 of its base runners in a 17-0 loss to the Tigers Sunday.
Ten of the 11 runs in the second were unearned as the Penguins committed two errors in the inning.
Kevin Libeg took the loss despite giving up only one earned run in 12/3 innings. Joe Antinone and Matt Gnacinski each pitched one scoreless inning of relief for the Penguins.
Brandon Caipen, Justin Banks and Jim Phillips had two hits apiece to lead YSU's 11-hit attack.
The teams will conclude the three-game set today at 5 p.m.

SEBRING, Fla.-- Youngstown State opened its spring season, finishing 17th out of 20 teams at the Northern Illinois Springlake Intercollegiate, which concluded on Saturday at the Springlake Golf Resort and Country Club.
The Penguins were led by Brittany Jones, who placed 37th with rounds of 79-81--160. Senior Gina Abruzzi was 51st with 81-81--162, sophomore Bonnie Sherman shot 84-85--169, freshman Mallory Wyderka had 91-94--105 and freshman Felicia Ciotola carded 97-91--188.
Freshman Kristen Albrecht had 91-83--174 to place 90th competing as an individual.
Youngstown State begins the Butler North-South Intercollegiate today.

Bowling champs
YOUNGSTOWN -- Art Lange and Ron Rowe won the Youngstown 2005 Senior Doubles Tournament at Holiday Bowl and Boardman Lanes.
Lange-Rowe rolled 2,897, finishing ahead of Ray Vens-Mike Yurco (2,845), Jim Shaffer-Moe Shaffer (2,716), Carl Pasternack-Phil ladd (2,665), Mike Kisak-Julius Rossler (2,660) and John Bullock-Jim Ellis (2,657).
Thirty-two teams were entered.
Thiel's Brown namedscholar All-American
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel College junior wrestler Kyle Brown was named a NCAA Division III Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
Brown, the 2005 Presidents' Athletic Conference champion and Div. III Midwest regional champion at 285, finished the season 32-9 and advanced to the national championships.
Brown is a physics major from Meadville, Pa.
Jessica Moore namedto all-tourney team
COLUMBUS -- Boardman High's Jessica Moore was named to the Division I girls state basketball all-tournament team.
Moore had 10 points and eight rebounds in the Spartans' loss to Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame in the semifinals on Friday.
Maria Getty of Dayton Chaminade-Julienne was named the tournament's outstanding player.
Moore and Getty were joined on the Div. I all-tournament team by Aisha Jefferson and Lindsey Goldsberry of Chaminade-Julienne, Mount Notre Dame's Michelle Jones and Sylvania Northview's Riana Miller.
The other outstanding players were Kathleen Gladstone of Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit in Div. II, South Euclid Regina's Carla Jacobs in Div. III and Launa Hochstetler of Berlin Hiland in Div. IV.

Puck injury
COLUMBUS -- A 4-year-old girl was hit in the head by a puck at an Ohio State hockey game on Saturday night and taken to a hospital for stitches, officials said.
The girl was treated at Children's Hospital and released, a nursing supervisor said Sunday. She did not have details of the girl's injury.
Medics told Columbus television station WBNS that the puck grazed the girl's head and she was given stitches to close a small cut.
Ohio State lost to Ferris State 1-0 in overtime in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoff game at Value City Arena.

ARCADIA, Calif. -- Bring on the boys for Sweet Catomine.
The 3-year-old filly powered past the leaders around the stretch turn and went on to a three-length victory in Sunday's $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks.
Sweet Catomine's win ensured that her next date with be against male horses in the Santa Anita Derby on April 9.
