YOUNGSTOWN -- Kenneth Favors, lugging a large fire extinguisher stolen from the St. Elizabeth Health Center helicopter pad on Belmont Avenue, was stopped by police Friday on Harlem Street, reports show. Favors, 50, of Lexington Avenue, offered to return the extinguisher to avoid arrest but police rejected the offer. Favors was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property and taken to jail.
Weapon, drug charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- Joseph Gonzalas, 24, of 9th Street, Campbell, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Saturday on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, discharge of a firearm within city limits and possession of marijuana. After hearing a gunshot in the area of Hillman Street and Indianola Avenue, police pursued and stopped the only car in the vicinity. Gonzalas was a rear passenger in the car. A gun was found under the front passenger seat, near the rear. A bag of suspected marijuana was found on Gonzalas, along with $624, police said.
Theft and drug charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jason M. Gray, 24, of Eden Road, New Castle, was arrested at 2:45 a.m. Saturday after two New Castle women told police that Gray, who had been a passenger in their car, stole pills out of a purse. Gray was caught as he ran north on Market Street. Police confiscated a bottle of Oxycodone pills and a bottle of morphine sulfate pills, reports show. Gray was arrested on charges of theft and possession of dangerous drugs.
