Friday's games
Celtics 115, Pistons 113 (2OT)
BOSTON -- Paul Pierce scored 38 points, hit the game-winning jumper with 23 seconds left and deflected Tayshaun Prince's 3-point attempt on the Pistons' last possession as Boston defeated Detroit in double overtime. The Celtics gained their sixth win in seven games since trading for Antoine Walker and maintained a three-game lead over Philadelphia for the Atlantic Division lead. Pierce, who also had 12 rebounds, sank the winning shot over Rasheed Wallace in the second overtime and then got a piece of Prince's shot with 6 seconds left. The Celtics snapped a five-game losing skid against Detroit, while the Pistons lost their fourth consecutive road game and have dropped four of their last five overall.
Hawks 116, Raptors 112, OT
TORONTO -- Tyronn Lue had a season-high 29 points and Al Harrington scored 28 as the Atlanta Hawks ended their 23-game road losing streak. The Hawks, the NBA's worst team, also ended their 13-game overall losing streak. Lue and Harrington combined for 14 of Atlanta's 15 points in overtime to lead Atlanta to its first win since Feb. 7 against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Hawks, who had not won on the road since Dec. 10 against Detroit, are 3-30 away from home.
Timberwolves 101, Magic 96
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Kevin Garnett scored five of his 25 points in the final minute. Garnett's three-point play with 52.9 seconds left broke a 95-95 tie. Troy Hudson, who made three straight 3-pointers in the middle of the fourth quarter, and Latrell Sprewell had 17 points apiece for the Timberwolves, who won for the fourth time in five games. Hedo Turkoglu had 32 points for Orlando, but he missed a free throw and a driving layup in the final 25 seconds when the Magic were down by three points. Rookie Dwight Howard added 19 points and 19 rebounds for the Magic, who have lost three of their last four.
Pacers 101, Warriors 83
INDIANAPOLIS -- Stephen Jackson, scratched from the starting lineup because he missed a morning shootaround, came off the bench late in the first quarter, hit his first four shots and finished with 22 points. Reggie Miller added 19 points, including 11 in the opening period, and Jeff Foster had 14 points and 17 rebounds. Mike Dunleavy led the Warriors with 18 points, while Baron Davis added 14 and Derek Fisher had 12. With James Jones starting in place of Jackson, the Pacers took an early lead on Miller's shooting but still led only 21-15 before Jackson entered the game with under 4 minutes left in the opening period. Jackson hit his first shot seconds later, a 3-pointer, and had a driving layup at the end of the quarter to put Indiana up 30-20. He then scored eight points in a 16-2 run starting the second period, and the Pacers pulled away to a 46-22 lead before Jackson's first miss.
76ers 112, Bobcats 80
PHILADELPHIA -- Allen Iverson had 25 points and 12 assists and Kyle Korver added 17 points. Iverson shot 8-of-18 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line as the Sixers snapped a two-game losing streak. Iverson had only four turnovers after committing 12 in a 104-85 loss to Golden State last Tuesday. Chris Webber played one of his best games for the Sixers, contributing 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists. The Sixers improved to 4-4 since acquiring Webber in a six-player trade from Sacramento on Feb. 23. Samuel Dalembert added 15 for the Sixers, who led 91-59 after three quarters en route to their largest margin of victory this season.
Mavericks 112, Bucks 110
MILWAUKEE -- Dirk Nowitzki, in his second game back from a knee injury, had 29 points and nine rebounds to lead Dallas. Jason Terry tied his season high with 28 points for Dallas, which had lost 20 of 23 games at Milwaukee during the franchise's history. Michael Finley, also just back from an injury, added 19 points. Michael Redd led Milwaukee with 33 points, but missed a fadeaway jumper with 2 seconds left that would have tied the game.
Rockets 127, Suns 107
PHOENIX -- Tracy McGrady scored 38 points and Yao Ming had 27 points and a career-high 22 rebounds, helping Houston rally from a 14-point third-quarter deficit to defeat Phoenix. The victory was the third straight for the Rockets over an elite Western Conference team following wins over Dallas and Seattle in their two previous games. Amare Stoudemire led Phoenix with 31 points and 10 rebounds, but shot only 2-for-10 in the second half as he was continually frustrated by Yao underneath.
Grizzlies 94, Jazz 82
SALT LAKE CITY -- Behind Mike Miller's 24 points, the shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies gained their fifth victory in six games. Miller shot 9-of-13 on a combination of long-range jumpers, including four 3-pointers, and quick drives to the basket. The Grizzlies, who also got 14 points from Brian Cardinal, shot 68 percent from the field in the second half and made 10 of 19 3-pointers.
