Greenville hopes to help 3 charities
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Greenville High School will hold fund-raisers in March to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, the American Red Cross of Mercer County and the Salvation Army of Greenville.
To kick off the fund raising, Students for Charity are holding Penny Wars Monday through Friday during lunch periods. Pupils in grades seven through 12 will compete by homeroom to earn points. Pennies award positive points while silver coins and bills award negative points. The challenge is to place pennies into your homeroom's jug and attack other homerooms by placing silver coins or bills into their jugs.
GHS Media Production students, Students for Charity and the Key Club will broadcast a live-telethon to benefit the three local charities on March 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. on Time Warner Cable channel 9. The program is produced and directed by media production students. Key Club members will staff the phone bank throughout the telecast. This year's goal is to raise $10,000.
For additional information or to make a donation before the telethon, please call Faith Ann Miller at (724) 588-2500, Ext. 2417.
