UThe tribe is originally from Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Tennessee.
UThe tribe was given land by the U.S. government in western Ohio in 1817. The tribe was forced by the U.S. government around 1831 to move west, and negotiate a treaty to exchange their Ohio land for a reservation in Oklahoma.
U The tribe got its name from the federal government in 1867 because it was the eastern most tribe of Shawnees in the Indian territory.
UThere are about 1,600 members of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma.
UThe tribe is based in Seneca, Mo., and West Seneca, Okla., towns on the borders of the two states.
UThe tribe has operated BorderTown Bingo and Casino for about 19 years in West Seneca, Okla.
UThe Eastern Shawnees also own a travel center in Wyandotte, Okla.; a Best Western Inn in Fort Scott, Kan., the People's Bank in Seneca, Mo., and a storage unit complex in Seneca, Mo.
