A summary of recent criminal activity in Canfield and Austintown:
CANFIELD CITY
March 3
Opened mail: A resident in the 500 block of Brookpark Drive reported that personal mail in the mailbox had been opened, including three bills. Part of one bill was missing.
March 4
Prescription drugs: A 35-year-old Canfield man was arrested during a traffic stop at W. Main Street and the El Patio Motel when police found a prescription bottle made out to someone else for propoxyphene (generic Darvocette) in his car. One pill was found.
Theft: $400 in cash, jewelry and precious metals were reported missing from a residence in the 100 block of Hilltop Boulevard. The owner reported that things had turned up missing over a period of months.
Assault: An 18-year-old Struthers female student at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road was arrested for hitting an 18-year-old Salem female student in the school cafeteria.
AUSTINTOWN TOWNSHIP
Feb. 28
Drug Offense: A man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia at state Route 46 and Seventy-Six Drive.
Theft: A dog was reported taken by juveniles in the 100 block of Rosemont Drive.
Breaking and entering: A construction trailer was broken into and tools were stolen in the 5000 block of Mahoning Avenue.
Theft: A vending machine was broken into at the Comfort Inn, 5425 Clarkins Drive.
March 1
Breaking and Entering: A man was arrested for breaking into the BP gas station, 3602 Mahoning Ave.
Criminal trespassing: A male and a female were both arrested for trespassing at the TA Travel Center, 5400 Seventy-Six Drive.
Theft: A gasoline drive-off as reported at Certified Oil, 825 N. Canfield-Niles Road.
Auto Theft: A 1998 Jeep with no plates was stolen from Bob and Chuck Eddy Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, 4850 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: Money was stolen from a bank account at First Place Bank, 4390 Mahoning Ave.
March 2:
Theft: Money was stolen from a purse in the 80 block of Ohltown Road.
Robbery: A man was arrested for robbing Giant Eagle, 5220 Mahoning Ave.
March 3
Theft: Diesel fuel was stolen from a vehicle at the TA Travel Center, 5400 Seventy-Six Drive.
Theft: Household belongings were stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Ohltown Road.
Drug offense: A man from Boardman was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia at Handyman Hardware, 4351 Kirk Road.
Possible theft: $350 was reported missing at Denny's, 4927 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A 16-year-old juvenile was caught stealing at Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.
March 4
Auto theft: A 1999 GMC Yukon was stolen from Pete and Charlies' Pub, 4176 Mahoning Ave.
Criminal damaging: A man was arrested for damaging a residence in the 4000 block of Deer Creek Court.
Theft: Company property was reported taken by an ex-employee at Card Transportation, 80 Victoria Road.
Theft: A gasoline drive-off was reported at True North, 4200 Mahoning Ave.
Criminal Damage: A windshield on vehicle was damaged in the 400 block of Burkey Road.
Theft: Three males were arrested for theft at Payless Shoe Source, 6000 Mahoning Ave.
March 5
Drug Offense: Two men were arrested at Noday's Lounge, 3713 Oakwood Ave., a Youngstown man for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and a Warren man for possession of crack cocaine.
Criminal damage: A side door window to a 2002 Ford was damaged at Mr. Rooter, 5411 Mahoning Ave.
Felonious assault: A man was arrested for assault at the Comfort Inn, 5425 Clarkins Drive.
Theft: Six nylon car straps were taken from the Bob and Chuck Eddy Chrysler Dodge Jeep.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged in the residential 6000 block of Ridgeview Drive.
Theft: A man was arrested for theft at IGA grocery store, 4477 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: Fuel was reported stolen at BP Oil, 3602 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A snow blower was reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Innwood Drive.
Theft: Ohio temporary tags were stolen from a vehicle parked at the Austintown Library, 6005 S. Raccoon Road.
Drug Offense: A Youngstown man was arrested for possession of marijuana in the 5200 block of Mahoning Avenue.
Theft: A ladies' purse and numerous contents were stolen at the Babylon, 114 Javit Court.
March 6
Theft: Cash was reported stolen from the 5000 block of Yorktown Lane.
