BRACEVILLE Cleaner water for township?

Sixty residents may benefit from expansion of Newton Falls' water system.
NEWTON FALLS -- Some Braceville Township residents may see cleaner, clearer drinking water in the future thanks to a nearby city.
On Monday, city officials for Newton Falls began plans for a possible expansion of their water system, venturing into Braceville Township.
The new addition to the system would serve approximately 60 customers along Braceville-Robertson Road who have access only to well water.
Talks between Braceville Township and Newton Falls began last summer to form a Joint Economic Development District, or J.E.D.D. A centerpiece of those negotiations was the ability of Newton Falls to serve some water customers outside the city. After concern over the clarity and quantity of Braceville Township's well water in certain areas, the two are looking to work together again.
"We're trying to get all the final details before we move ahead, just trying to get everything finalized," said Newton Falls city manager David Watson.
The responsibility of maintenance and chemical costs for the addition are not determined, and could delay the contract negotiations, officials noted.
The project, if approved, could start as early as this summer. The city could start taking bids as early as April or May.
