SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Youngstown State dropped a pair of seven-inning games to Wofford, 11-4 and 6-4, Saturday.
Tommy Nutt went 6-for-8 on the day with three singles, a double and two triples, while Justin Banks went 4-for-4 in game two. Justin Thomas was tagged with the loss in game one while Kevin Libeg took the loss in game two.
The teams will play the finale of the three-game set today at 1 p.m.

The monthly meeting of the Youngstown Baseball Old Timers Association will be Thursday at Kramer Field (formerly Arco Field) at the intersection of Bears Den and Schenley.
Phantoms lose
SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Youngstown Phantoms dropped a 5-2 decision to the Soo Kewadin Indians Friday night in a North American Hockey League game.
Mike Maltese scored his eighth goal of the season and Anthony Canzoneri scored his 12th for Youngstown. Aaron Rhyner had an assist on Canzoneri's goal.
Youngstown is 23-21-3.

Ohio State fansto receive brochures
COLUMBUS -- Ohio State's athletics department has started passing out pamphlets explaining a subject its fans have gotten all too familiar with lately: NCAA rules governing boosters and athletes.
The brochures are a response to NCAA investigations of the Buckeyes' football and men's and women's basketball programs. They were produced by a committee to look at ways to educate fans about the rules.

U NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints signed former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Jermane Mayberry to a four-year contract Saturday.
Mayberry, 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds, spent his first nine NFL seasons with the Eagles, helping the team reach the Super Bowl this year.
"Jermane has starting experience at every spot up front other than center," Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said. "His signing will have a positive impact on our entire offense, from both a production and leadership perspective."
U DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins signed defensive end Vonnie Holliday to a two-year contract Saturday.
Holliday was released by Kansas City on Feb. 22. The seven-year NFL veteran was with the Chiefs for two seasons.
He started three games last season and had nine tackles. He has played in 91 career games, with 220 tackles. He has also played for Green Bay.

Maradona hasweight-loss surgery
BOGOTA, Colombia -- Former soccer icon Diego Maradona had stomach surgery at a clinic in Colombia on Saturday to reduce his ballooning waistline.
"The operation was carried out without any problems," Dr. Francisco Holguin told The Associated Press by telephone. "The patient is back in his room, has woken up, and will leave the clinic in three days or so."
Holguin said the operation to staple the 44-year-old Argentine's stomach, also known as a gastric bypass, lasted two hours.
