HOLISTIC HEALTH Tapping higher vibrations can be a vital activity

Spiritual group discusses concepts to help the members 'stay connected.'
YOUNGSTOWN -- Most holistic modalities embrace the concept of higher vibrations, whether they are described as electrical frequencies, such as in many Chinese methods, homeopathics, or electrodermal screening, or simply thought of as a more "divine" energy such as in Reiki or some types of meditation.
Vince Lisi, director of the Youngstown Spiritual Society, helps people reach that higher energy level, to rise to their own self-healing.
Lisi's teachings are based on three concepts:
UTo bring people into conscious awareness of their participation in higher vibrational energies (what many people refer to as "divine").
UTo experience healing presence at all levels: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.
UThat dis-ease will leave when a person is vibrating at high energy levels based on spiritual awareness.
"All healing modalities from meditation to Reiki are aspects of higher vibrational energy, enlightening and harmonizing energies of the earth plane," says Lisi. There are steps he teaches for conscious awareness, to co-create (and heal) by participating in higher energies. "Our goal is to get people beyond illnesses so there is not even a need for healing," Lisi adds.
A pattern
"Upon awakening, before getting out of bed, connect with a higher energy by use of an affirmation," says Lisi. Many people think of this as connecting with God, or whatever they perceive to be a higher power. An affirmation is a positive statement stated as if it already is, such as "I now connect to the divine power, [or my highest energy]."
Next, do a spiritual practice where one feels that presence. This could be meditation, yoga, Reiki, or whatever is meaningful to the individual.
"Then, see the rest of the day as a spiritual practice, manifesting higher energy," says Lisi. "It is so easy to get caught up in life's dramas." Dramas and distractions often bring us into a lower vibrational energy, he says.
"At first moment of disconnection to the higher energies, such as whining, complaining, or feeling uncomfortable, immediately reconnect with a word or action," Lisi says. "You might take time for a short, conscious breath, then say 'stay connected.'"
Upon going to sleep, surrender back into higher awareness. "This allows the soul to continue developing during sleep," Lisi says.
Imbalances
Lisi believes that for people to get out of their state of dis-ease they must learn to experience an alternate state where they are one with the higher energies, or they will continue to recreate the imbalances that caused the disease in the first place. One way to do this is to meet regularly with groups of people who are growing in conscious awareness, and to have one-on-one meetings with a teacher who can provide guidance.
The Youngstown Spiritual Society offers many opportunities for like-minded people to gather at the Ursuline Center on Shields Road in Canfield.
Discussions of the book "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle are 7:15-8:45 p.m. Thursdays. The group spends several years on each book, not only studying it, but using it as a springboard for further discussions. In six weeks, the group will begin a new book, "The Eye of the I" by David Hawkins. Some of the past books they have studied are "Conversations with God" by Neale Walsch, "Bringers of the Dawn" by Barbara Marciniak, and "The Ascension Handbook" by Anthony Stubbs.
"The intent of the group is to enable a person to encounter ideas and sharings which will give them a true understanding of life, and balance all their life energies," says Lisi. "'The Power of Now' is about the evolution of consciousness, and the movement of one's identification with the egoic mind to the experience of one's identification with higher energies."
A group meets 7-8:30 p.m. Sundays to discuss the book "The Course in Miracles," which they have been studying for four years, and have several more to go.
Lisi says that the groups discuss "universal spiritual truths and how they pertain practically in peoples' lives."
There is also a morning meeting the third Sunday of every month. This consists of a message based on universal spiritual teachings, a group meditation, and sharing. Tapes of the message and meditation are available for $5.
Lisi is available for individual consultations, based on what each client needs. He also teaches professional ethics, and engineering ethics at YSU, and intro to philosophy, and ethics at Penn State Shenango, Sharon.
