Car causes confusion
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jeffrey Chagnot, the city's economic development director, sold a 1994 Pontiac about a year ago. But the vehicle -- towed after being found abandoned with fictitious license plates -- is still registered in his name.
Chagnot said he removed his license plates from the 1994 model when he sold it, and signed the title over to another person.
Chagnot said he has no idea why a check by police would show that he is the owner of the vehicle.
Chagnot said he now drives a 2000 Pontiac.
Police towed the 1994 car Saturday after finding it abandoned with the fictitious license plates on East Warren Avenue.
The plates came back to a 1991 Plymouth registered to another person. The plates on the 1994 Pontiac haven't been renewed since 2002, police said.
The car is being held for the police traffic division.
