Mahoning judge welcomes two new citizens

YOUNGSTOWN -- Judge Theresa Dellick of Mahoning County Juvenile Court welcomed two people as America's newest citizens.
Judge Dellick presided over naturalization ceremonies Wednesday in a common pleas courtroom for Mehmet Cengiz Karpak and Jacqueline El Khoury.
Karpak, a native of Turkey, lives in Canfield. El Khoury, born in Lebanon, lives in Austintown.
The judge said American citizenship is to be treasured, but she encouraged the two "never to give up your heritage from where you came."
"That's what makes this country so special," Judge Dellick said, adding that America embraces the diverse cultures of all its citizens.
Steven Darvanan, supervisor for the clerk of courts naturalization office, gave the motion to the court for admission of the two people as citizens. Clerk of Courts Anthony Vivo Jr. administered the oath of allegiance.
