Last week: Ireland's Padraig Harrington won the Barclays Classic for his second PGA Tour victory of the year, holing a 65-foot eagle putt on the final hole to beat Jim Furyk by a stroke. Harrington was three strokes behind Furyk with five holes to play.
Notes: Tiger Woods, coming off a runner-up finish two weeks ago in the U.S. Open, won the 1997, 1999 and 2003 tournaments. He matched Scott Hoch's 2001 tournament record in 2003, finishing at 267. ... Second-ranked Vijay Singh also is in the field. ... The tournament ends the race for British Open spots through a money list made up of The Players Championship and the last five PGA Tour events. The top two players not otherwise exempt will earn spots in the July 14-17 tournament at St. Andrews. Two other spots will be awarded to the top finisher not otherwise exempt this week and next week in the John Deere Classic.

Last week: South Korea's Birdie Kim won the U.S. Women's Open at Cherry Hills, holing a bunker shot for birdie on the final hole to beat 17-year-old Morgan Pressel by two strokes. Kim finished at 3-over 287. Annika Sorenstam, the winner of the first two majors of the year, tied for 23rd, nine strokes back.
Notes: Sorenstam has six victories in nine starts this year to push her LPGA Tour total to 62. Since playing in the PGA Tour's Colonial two years ago, she has won 19 of her 39 events on the LPGA Tour. The top-seeded Swedish star will open against Joanne Morley.

Van de Velde, famous for blowing a three-stroke lead on the 72nd hole in the 1999 British Open, bogeyed the 18th in regulation.
