Bond set for men accused of shooting car

YOUNGSTOWN -- Two men accused of shooting up an occupied Ford Explorer on the East Side over the weekend were arrested and arraigned Tuesday in municipal court.
Lenny Vaughn, 18, of Berwick Avenue, is charged with four counts of felonious assault and two counts of illegal possession of a firearm. Judge Robert P. Milich set Vaughn's bond at $110,000.
Dana C. Guarnieri, an assistant city prosecutor, told the judge that Vaughn is under indictment in an unrelated case. Records show he has a possession of cocaine case from December 2004 pending in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Andre Maxwell, 22, of Regent Street, is charged with two counts of felonious assault. His bond was set at $70,000.
A man and a woman who live on Bennington Avenue told police that they were traveling on McGuffey Road late Friday night in a Ford Explorer when a car pulled alongside and two shooters opened fire.
Police found a bullet hole in the driver's side rear door and noted that both rear windows had been shot out. One of the victims told police that the shooters believe he had something to do with a house being shot up on the East Side.
