Orioles 4, Yankees 3
BALTIMORE -- Brian Roberts homered on Mike Stanton's first pitch in the 10th inning and Rafael Palmeiro hit a milestone shot for the Baltimore Orioles, who snapped a six-game skid. Larry Bigbie also homered for the Orioles, who rallied from a three-run deficit. Palmeiro hit his 563rd homer to tie Reggie Jackson for ninth place. The two-run drive gave Palmeiro 1,813 RBIs, pushing him past Frank Robinson into 15th place.
Palmeiro's homer brought the Orioles to 4-3 in the sixth, and Baltimore tied it in the eighth off Tom Gordon. Roberts ended it with his 13th homer, a shot to left off Stanton (1-2).
White Sox 2, Tigers 1
DETROIT -- Mark Buehrle outdueled Nate Robertson to win his ninth straight decision, and Jermaine Dye hit a tiebreaking home run to lead Chicago over Detroit. Buehrle (10-1) allowed one run and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings, struck out six and walked none, lowering his ERA to 2.42. Buehrle got his final out by picking Nook Logan off first with one out in the seventh following a single, Cliff Politte got four straight outs, and Dustin Hermanson escaped a ninth-inning jam for his 18th save in 19 chances. Chicago, which leads the AL Central, broke a two-game losing streak and improved to a major league-best 51-24.
Blue Jays 3, Devil Rays 1, 11 innings
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Defensive replacement Gabe Gross bailed Toronto out of one last jam and John McDonald snapped an 11th-inning tie with an infield hit to help the Blue Jays beat Tampa Bay. Gross saved the night for the Blue Jays, entering the game in left field with runners at first and third and one out in the bottom of the 10th and throwing out Eric Munson at the plate to complete an inning-ending double play.
Aaron Hill, who tied the game at 1 with a sixth-inning RBI single, led off the 11th with a single off Doug Waechter (3-6). Ken Huckaby's sacrifice bunt and Frank Menechino's grounder moved Hill to third before McDonald beat out a high chopper up the middle to drive in the go-ahead run.
Twins 11, Royals 8
MINNEAPOLIS -- Shannon Stewart had three hits and three RBIs, including a single that drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning to help Minnesota hand Kansas City its eighth consecutive loss. The Twins, who won their third straight for the first time since June 8, scored three times in the seventh against relievers Andy Sisco (1-2) and Leo Nunez.
Angels 5, Rangers 1, 11 innings
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Garret Anderson hit a grand slam in the 11th inning and Los Angeles beat Texas Rangers for its eighth straight victory. Anderson pulled a line drive into the first row of seats in the right-field stands for his ninth homer. It was his seventh career slam, his first since May 8, 2003, and it came on an 0-1 pitch from Brian Shouse, a left-handed reliever brought in specifically to face him after the Angels loaded the bases with none out against Kameron Loe (0-1).

Mets 8, Phillies 3
NEW YORK -- Mike Piazza drove in three runs with a single and his ninth home run of the season and Carlos Beltran had a double and triple, punctuating one New York rally and touching off another against Philadelphia. The Mets won for fourth time in the last five games and drew back to .500 at 38-38 as they started a stretch of 10 straight games against division opponents. Piazza hit a fifth-inning single that put the Mets ahead 3-1 and homered in the sixth off Amaury Telemaco. With 387 homers, Piazza moved within two of Johnny Bench for 46th place. Victor Zambrano (4-6) allowed one run, four hits and three walks in five innings, striking out a season-high seven.
Cubs 2, Brewers 0
CHICAGO -- Carlos Zambrano allowed just three hits in eight innings, and NL batting leader Derrek Lee hit his 23rd homer to lead the Chicago over Milwaukee. Jerry Hairston also drove in a run with a single, and the Cubs won their third straight. Zambrano (5-4) was 1-3 in his previous eight starts. Since pitching seven scoreless innings in his last win at San Diego on June 5, he had allowed 18 runs over 13 innings in three starts.
Doug Davis (9-7) allowed just two runs and four hits in seven innings. He struck out nine and walked two.
Braves 9, Marlins 1
MIAMI -- Marcus Giles homered and Atlanta spoiled Dontrelle Willis' bid to become the first 13-game winner in the major leagues, beating Florida for its fifth straight victory. Jorge Sosa (4-1) held Florida to four hits -- including Carlos Delgado's 15th homer -- in six crisp innings for his second win in four starts since moving into Atlanta's rotation June 14.
Giles' homer was the first allowed by Willis (12-3) in 12 starts since April 23. Julio Franco had three RBIs for Atlanta, which has won seven of eight and 10 of 12.
Cardinals 2, Reds 1
ST. LOUIS -- Mark Mulder ended a string of poor starts and Reggie Sanders backed him with a two-run homer, helping St. Louis beat Cincinnati. The Cardinals have won three of four, giving them an NL-best record of 48-28. They sent the Reds to their 15th loss in 17 road games. In 6 1/3 innings, Mulder (9-5) gave up seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks. He minimized damage despite giving up three hits in the first and third, benefiting from two double plays. Sanders, batting cleanup instead of Jim Edmonds against left-hander Brandon Claussen (4-5), hit his 16th homer and second in two games after Albert Pujols singled with two outs in the first inning.
Rockies 6, Astros 5
DENVER -- Roger Clemens left with a lead. For the third time this season, the Houston Astros failed to hold it. After Clemens allowed just four hits in seven innings, Garrett Atkins hit a grand slam in the eighth off Russ Springer. Morgan Ensberg had a grand slam and five RBIs to back Clemens, who leads the major leagues with a 1.50 ERA but is just 6-3.
