MERCER COUNTY Man sentenced for gas station robbery
Several other people were put on probation for various crimes.
MERCER, Pa. -- A Sandy Lake man has been sentenced to prison for his part in a 2004 gas station robbery.
Judge Francis Fornelli of Mercer County Common Pleas Court sentenced Jason Morrow, 21, of Sandy Lake-Greenville Road, Sandy Lake, to 10 to 24 months in prison followed by three years' probation for conspiracy to commit robbery, a felony. He was also ordered to make restitution.
According to court documents, Morrow dropped a friend off near Dye's Ashland, 2295 Mercer Road, Stoneboro. The friend robbed the station at knifepoint and demanded money. After emptying the cash register, the friend fled to a previously arranged location where Morrow picked him up.
Judge Fornelli also sentenced Randolph Scott, 36, of North Neshannock Road, Hermitage, to 1 1/2 to five years in prison for statutory sexual assault, a felony. The term was ordered served consecutive to any other sentences he is serving.
He was also given 130 days credit for time served. According to court documents, on Feb. 1, 2003, Scott smoked marijuana containing crack cocaine with a 12-year-old girl in a van parked in South Pymatuning Township. He then engaged in sexual intercourse with her.
Several people were put on probation.
*June Bouchard, 48, of New Castle, was placed on three years' probation for attempted retail theft. On Oct. 3, 2004, according to court documents, she stole jeans and a jigsaw worth $34 from Wal-Mart, 3300 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage. The offense is a felony because it is her third or subsequent offense.
*Carol Curry, 28, of Cleveland, was placed on three years' probation and fined $1,000 for prohibited offensive weapon, a misdemeanor. On August 28, 2004, according to court documents, Curry was apprehended on I-80, East Lackawannock Township with a .32 caliber revolver she was not licensed to carry. She also had a lipstick tube which had been adapted to conceal a knife when the bottom of the tube was turned.
*Larry Davis, 36, of Alborn Avenue, New Castle, was placed on two years' probation for recklessly endangering another person, a misdemeanor. According to court documents, on Nov. 19, 2004, while driving a vehicle on Hazen Road, Sharpsville, he slapped a woman and stopped his car in the middle of the road. He then grabbed the woman by the hair with both hands. As the victim was getting out of the car, he stepped on the gas, dragging her 75 feet.
*Angela Poghen, 19, of Walker Drive, Meadville, was placed on two years' probation and ordered to make restitution for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor. She used a stolen credit card to charge $835 worth of goods at Wal-Mart and Fashion Bug, both on Williamson Road, Hempfield Township, according to court documents.
*John Wylie, 46, of Doris Drive, Hubbard, Ohio, was placed on 24 months' probation and ordered to make restitution for theft by failure to make required disposition of funds, a misdemeanor. According to court documents, in December, 2004, he made seven deliveries of frozen foods and failed to bring $1,251 in payments back to Sharon Packing Co., 101 Broadway Ave., Farrell.
