Youngstown drug busts bring 8 arrests



YOUNGSTOWN -- Police arrested eight people on a variety of drug-related charges in separate drug busts at two city residences Friday.
The Youngstown Police Department's vice squad executed search warrants shortly after 7 p.m. at 124 Funston St. and around 7:30 p.m. at 605 Ridge Ave.
Officers recovered 18 bags of suspected crack cocaine and numerous suspected glass crack pipes at the Funston Street residence. There, they arrested Tina Cardona, 37, on charges of trafficking in crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Also arrested were Brenda Turner, 35, and Sheila Fields, 44. Turner was charged with drug abuse, and Turner and Fields were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
During their search at the Ridge Avenue house, officers arrested Shaffon Scipio, 35, Tyriek Johnson, 25, and Roberta Thomas, no age given, on drug-related charges. Roy Jackson, 54, and Todd Taylor, 40, also were cited on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. Each was released at the scene. Police found about 60 bags of suspected crack cocaine and a bag of Percocet, according to the report.
