Surprise party celebrates Crans golden jubilee



XCANFIELD -- A private celebration was held May 28 at the Holiday Inn, Boardman, to honor Dr. Charles A. Sr. and Teresa M. Crans, 4416 Williamsburg Drive, on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary.
The surprise event was hosted by the couple's children and spouses, Deborah and Jeff Kunkle of Choctaw, Okla., Donna and Larry Esterly of Poland, Darlene and Ronald Brown of Boardman, Drs. Charles Jr. and Mara Crans of Camden, Maine, and Dr. David and Toni Crans of Canfield. Eleven grandchildren complete the family.
The former Teresa Hejnosz and Dr. Crans were married July 2, 1955, at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Braddock, Pa. They are members of St. Christine Church in Youngstown.
Mrs. Crans worked as a private secretary at Columbia Southern Chemical Corp. at Gateway Center in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Crans graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and Pittsburgh Medical School. He interned at McKeesport (Pa.) Hospital and did his surgical residency with the Youngstown Hospital Association. A Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he practiced general surgery until his retirement in 2002. He is a member of the Forum Health Hospital and an associate clinical professor of surgery at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown.
The couple plan to continue their anniversary celebration with a vacation in the Bahamas.
