BASKETBALL Wildcats bring end to season with win over Pros

STRUTHERS -- Those who like offense saw plenty of it Friday in the final game of the Mahoning Valley Wildcats' initial season in the International Basketball League.
The Cats scored a league-record 175 points as they connected on 74 field goals in the 175-138 win over the Detroit Pros.
Rick McFadden scored a team season-high 31 points to lead the attack while Kevin Netter came up big for the second straight game. Netter hit on 12 of 14 shots from the field for 27 points.
A.C. Crockett had 20 points and added 13 assists. TeJay Anderson added 17 markers, with Lawrence Culver scoring 16 points and a game high of 13 rebounds.
Chad Allen connected on seven of eight shots and finished with 16 markers.
Joe Lewandowski rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 and added 10 assists.
The Cats, who finish the season at 12-7, shot 58% from the field for the game, to just 40% for Detroit.
For the Pros (6-15), Damion Washington had 34 points while Rollie Smith added 33.
The Pros brought six players and five of them finished in double figures.
The game was close in the first quarter as there was one tie at 3-3, and then 11 lead changes with the Cats leading 45-36 after the first quarter.
Mahoning Valley outscored Detroit 81-49 over the next two stanzas to blow open the contest.
The Cats outboarded Detroit, 81-55, while suffering 23 turnovers to 21 for the Pros.
The Cats had 51 assists in the game while Detroit had 27.
