POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent police activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:
GIRARD
June 19
Burglary: A woman returned to her apartment in the 900 block of Patricia Drive and noticed someone had stepped in a plant under a window and kicked a fan cord from a wall. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Theft: A woman noticed several flags were removed from the front of her residence in the 100 block of East Second Street.
Burglary: A woman discovered two boxes containing clothes and about 600 compact discs missing from an apartment she was moving from in the 200 block of East Kline Street.
Burglary: A Girard woman discovered her son's apartment in the 900 block of Patricia Drive was burglarized while he was out of town. She found that a television was missing.
June 20
Theft: An employee at Beach Club Tanning Studio, 900 1/2 N. State St., discovered her purse stolen.
Attempted breaking and entering: A man noticed someone tried to gain entry to his home in the 500 block of North State Street after he found pry marks on a rear door frame.
June 21
Theft: A woman reported the theft of a radar detector from her vehicle parked at her residence in the 300 block of East Wilson Avenue.
Assault/theft: A man told police his former girlfriend came to his residence in the 500 block of Forsythe Avenue and hit him in the head during an argument and took his cell phone.
LIBERTY
June 12
Theft: A woman, possibly in her late 20s, reportedly left a Speedway station on Belmont Avenue and failed to pay for $15.50 worth of gas.
June 15
Auto theft: A man reported his 1992 Chevy Blazer stolen from his Marla Lane residence.
Auto theft: A Trumbull Court man reported the theft of his 1987 Chevy Caprice.
Possible theft: An employee at Fagen's Building Center, 6792 Belmont Ave., discovered his cell phone missing.
June 16
Arrest: After stopping a vehicle near the Super 8 Motel, 4250 Belmont Ave., police arrested a 38-year-old Columbiana man on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of criminal tools and two counts of driving under the influence. Officers say they found a suspected crack pipe in an open center console, a scale with suspected drug residue and other suspected paraphernalia.
June 17
Criminal damaging: A worker at the Tallyho-tel, 4249 Belmont Ave., reported damage to her car's passenger-side front fender, door and rear quarter panel.
Criminal simulation: An employee at a McDonald's restaurant, 3630 Belmont Ave., told officers two people in the drive-through passed a counterfeit $20 bill.
Arrest: Niles police turned over to Liberty authorities a Warren man, 19. He was wanted on three warrants charging him with one count each of breaking and entering.
June 18
Burglary: Someone broke a window and entered a residence in the 10 block of Kris Drive. A gas stove and a refrigerator were stolen, for a loss of $675.
June 19
Theft: A man reported a $400 gas grill was removed from near his home in the 1600 block of Darlington Avenue.
Theft: A Hubbard woman returned to Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., to retrieve her purse from a shopping cart, but discovered it was missing.
Stolen property: After performing a registration check on a car and determining it had been stolen in Youngstown, police pulled over the driver near Belmont and Trumbull avenues. Arrested was a 46-year-old Youngstown man on a felony charge of receiving stolen property. Another Youngstown man, 32, also was arrested, but no charges had been filed against him.
June 20
Criminal mischief: A woman in the 6200 block of Ravine Drive reported someone tossed eggs at a company-owned vehicle she was using.
Theft: A woman in her mid-20s reportedly pumped $10 worth of gasoline at a Shell True North station, 3990 Belmont Ave., and drove away without paying.
Criminal damaging: A woman discovered her husband's vehicle's windshield was shattered at their residence in the 400 block of East Montrose Street. The estimated damage was $300.
Recovered property: After a Marla Lane man reported his 1992 Chevy Blazer stolen, he recovered the vehicle in a nearby wooded area.
Theft: A Wickliffe, Ohio, woman staying at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex, 1620 Motor Inn Drive, reported someone had entered her vehicle and took 20 CDs, a black CD case and the faceplate to a CD player. Her loss came to $415.
