Event set for those who love catfish

The local event is the seventh stop in the national qualifying tournament.
BAZETTA -- Are catfish your type of catch?
If so, come fishing on Mosquito Lake on Saturday and you just might qualify for the Cabela's KingKat Classic fishing tournament.
Trumbull County's tourism office is giving some promotional assistance to the event, which bills itself as "one of America's premier catfish tournament trails."
Mosquito Lake is one of 11 qualifying tournament locations for the KingKat Classic, which will be Sept. 9-10 at Lakes Marion and Moultrie in Santee, S.C.
The Mosquito Lake event is the seventh stop in the national qualifying tournament, which also includes places such as the Ohio, Mississippi and Missouri rivers; and lakes in Georgia, Kansas and South Carolina.
Mosquito Lake off state Route 305 has traditionally offered fine fishing for walleye, crappie, bass, northern pike and catfish.
In fact, there will be a Crappie USA Tournament Trail at Mosquito Lakeon Oct. 1, also sponsored in part by Cabela's, an outfitter of equipment and clothing for camping, fishing, and hunting.
Ground rules
For this weekend's event, teams will consist of one or two persons, but a third person can accompany them providing he or she is under 16 or more than 65 years old. There's a six rod limit rule; all fish weighed must be caught with a rod and reel only. Teams must compete from a boat.
Participants entered by mail or phone -- but there's still time for late entries, accepted at a sign-up site today between 5-7 p.m. at the host hotel, Avalon Inn & amp; Resort; or at the pre-tournament meeting Saturday at 5:30 a.m. Cost is $25 to enter.
Tournament hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and night events are 6:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. Teams must be in the weigh-in line with fish by 4 p.m. for daytime events and 9 a.m. for the night events.
There's a seven fish limit per team; only live fish will be weighed and all fish will be released after weighing in.
The top 20 teams at each national qualifying event will qualify for the $50,000 Cabela's KingKat Classic.
