Actors needed
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster College is offering Foundation Theatre Camp for 26 junior or high school students July 18-22 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Beeghly Theater. Robert Allen, recent Westminster graduate and current graduate student at the Actors Studio Drama School said the program is aims to enhance the love of theatre and performance through short lectures, improvisations, character building exercises, and rehearsals of short scenes. Flashy lashes
Knight Ridder's teen reviewers are the first to say they're are not the frou-frou type. However, because they know ridiculously long lashes are in right now (well, that and it reminds them of "dress-up" when they were kids) they found some lashes they'd like to rate Most Fun. Revlon has come out with fake eyelashes called FantasyLengths that feature a dash of glitter. Despite what you may be picturing these are actually quite classy, bearing just enough glitter to draw attention to your own sparkling eyes.
Since they'd never worn fake lashes before, they just had to play with them. Ummm, yeah. After 10 minutes and looking rather like the Bride of Frankenstein with lashes going vertically on our eyelid (don't ask), they consulted a more experienced friend. Her tips for application are to first make sure the fake lash isn't too long for your lid. (If so, trim it down.) Then, when applying, start in one corner and work your way down the lash as you press it down. The kit comes with an applicator, but it was most useful for pushing the lash onto the extra adhesive strip -- which they promptly used after ruining the first one. (Good thinking, Revlon!)
Also available in regular styles (that is, minus the fun glitter), FantasyLengths are available at drugstores and stores like Target and Wal-Mart for about $6.
