Revolution 3, Crew 1
COLUMBUS -- Pat Noonan scored twice for New England. The Revolution (8-1-4) overcame a fourth-minute goal by the Crew's Edson Buddle to keep the Crew (4-8-1) mired in last place in the Eastern Conference. After its first loss of the season last Saturday, 2-0 against D.C. United, New England took advantage of the lowly Columbus team to regain the form that saw the Revs start the season with an 11-game unbeaten streak.
FC Dallas 2, Chivas USA 1
DALLAS -- Abe Thompson scored in the 81st minute to win it. Thompson scored his second goal of the season on a header from inside the goalkeeper's box, placing it underneath the center of the crossbar. FC Dallas' David Wagenfuhr lofted a pass from 20 yards on the left flank to set up the score. Arturo Alvarez began the scoring sequence by crossing a pass to Wagenfuhr. FC Dallas (9-2-3) is 5-0 at home this season, while Chivas (1-11-3) has yet to win on the road in its inaugural season.
Galaxy 1, Real Salt Lake 1
SALT LAKE CITY -- Jamie Watson's first MLS goal ended a league-record scoring drought at 557 minutes for Real Salt Lake and lifted the expansion club to a tie with Los Angeles. Watson, a rookie making his first start, scored inside the left goalpost in the 56th minute and lifted his arms as much in relief as celebration of Real's first goal since Seth Trembly scored in the 39th minute of a 2-0 win over Chivas USA on May 18. Andy Williams got the assist for Salt Lake (3-8-3), which had been shut out in five straight games. Ednaldo da Conceicao scored his first MLS goal and had a great chance at another for the Galaxy (7-4-3), but tripped before he could knock the ball into the net. Real had a chance to win it when Jordan Cila got behind the defense and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, but couldn't get a pass off to Williams, who was alone in front of the goal. Cila made one move too many and got too deep to pass it or kick it himself. Hartman also came up with point-blank saves on Tiger Williams and Jason Kreis late in regulation to preserve the tie. D.C. United held the record of 536 straight scoreless minutes, set three years ago. Fans marked the dubious achievement by throwing black streamers onto the field in the 36th minute, when Real officially set the record for futility. Salt Lake held Landon Donovan without a shot. Donovan scored twice in the same stadium on June 4 in a 3-0 win for the U.S. national team over Costa Rica in a World Cup qualifier.
