COLUMBUS CONVENTION Warren Junior Women's League, members garner top honors

NILES -- Awards from the General/Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs Convention held April 22-24 in Columbus were presented to the general membership of Warren Junior Women's League at its regular monthly meeting held May 4 at Vernon's Cafe on U.S. Route 422.
For the second consecutive year, the Warren league received honors as the top junior club in the state of Ohio out of 25 junior clubs, and it achieved a ranking of second overall out of 93 OFWC general and junior clubs.
Other club awards are:
U Northeast District Legislation Day Awards: Soich-Rebhan Literacy Award, GFWC Junior Special Project "Advocates for Children," OFWC Junior Special Project "Our Help for the Elderly," Junior Voluntary Fund, Junior Scorecard, Art, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Affairs, Public Affairs, Legislation/Public Policy, Leadership, Public Relations, 2002-2004 State Project; Outstanding Program Planning, GFWC/Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs Annual Report, OFWC State Project "Women's Heart Health," OFWC President's Special Emphasis "2002-2004 Membership," Loyal Jonquils Donation, Women's History and Resource Center, and Act in October Participation.

USusan Rebhan, third place, Natural History, and third place, "The World in Pictures" scenic.
UStephanie Furano, first place, "GFWC Volunteers in Action" and first place, "Women's Heart Health Red Attire Doll."
UEsther Rathnam, second place "GFWC Volunteers in Action."
UPeg Boyd, first place, Media Book.
The first place photo entries by Kowalski and Furano and the media book compiled by Boyd were sent to GFWC to be judged at the national convention to be held in Las Vegas.
The league also received the Ohio Star Citizenship Award in honor of the late Janice Kenney for her contributions to the league and community.
Juniorette awards
The Warren Juniorettes, which the Warren league sponsors, also garnered awards. The club received the Jean Browing Memorial Award as Juniorette Club of the Year, the Loyal Jonquil Award, which is the president's special project for mentoring women in the community, and the Ruth Miller Memorial Award for increase in membership.
Monica Baytos, an honors graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and member of the juniorettes, was named Ohio's Juniorette of the Year and received the Reflection of an Outstanding Volunteer award for her time, leadership, dedication and outstanding volunteer service to the community. She is the daughter of John and Becky Baytos.
Julie Vugrinovich of Cortland, adviser of the juniorettes and a member of the league, was named Ohio's Advisor of the Year and received the Guiding Heart of Future Volunteers award for being actively involved with mentoring young women in the community and advising the juniorettes for 10 years.
