CLASS AA BASEBALL Yates pitches 2-hitter as Bud's/DiCiccio rolls



Youngstown Metro rallied past Penn-Ohio, 6-3.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Paul Yates pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts as Bud's/DiCiccio posted a 5-1 victory over Gibson/Governor Insurance in Class AA League at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
Bud's (14-3) scored all its runs in the fifth inning as Jared Bogan led off with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch. With one out, Adam Cox reached base on an error and Bogan scored. Cox stole second base. Ross Buttle singled home Cox. With two out, Shane Davis singled home Buttle. Mark Nightingale singled and Davis scored on an error. Rick Gozur singled home Nightingale.
Gozur, who had doubled in the fourth, and Nightingale each finished with two hits.
In pitching the complete game Yates improved to 2-1.
Garrett Cravener paced Gibson/Governor Insurance with a double.
Youngstown Metros 6,Penn-Ohio 3
The Metros snapped a 3-3 tie as they scored two runs in the fifth inning in another contest played at Oakland Field.
Scott Bender reached base on an error leading off the fifth. He stole second. Brent Parks reached base on an error. Josh Conkey doubled and Bender scored. Parks scored on a sacrifice fly.
In the third inning the Metros took a 3-1 lead as Jonathan Habuda singled and he came home on a home run by Parks.
Dan Bertolini hit a pair of singles for Metros as did Habuda.
Penn-Ohio tied the contest 3-3 in the third inning as Glen Morris, Jason Martin and Marc Sakora all hit singles and Joe O'Hara, Anthony Musolino and John Poma walked.
Mike Sakorski led Penn-Ohio with a double and single.
Warren AA
WARREN -- Jason Lee scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning as MTC Knights edged LBD Dawgs 4-3 at Packard MacGregor Field.
Relief pitcher Anthony Butch worked 32/3 innings with five strikeouts to pick up the win.
Phil Biviano had two hits for the Knights (8-4).
Kendall Kokoski and Tim Jones each had a pair of hits for the Dawgs.
Metro Ice 7, Predator Trucking 5
Metro Ice snapped a 4-4 tie as it scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning at Perkins Caffie Field.
Christian Thoma hit a triple, single and drove in two runs for Metro Ice. Luke Boggs added a double and single.
Kyle Schofer hit a double for Predator Trucking.
Penn Ohio 8,Bazetta-Cortland Optimists 2
Penn Ohio continues to dominate the Caffie Division with a 12-1 record.
Steve Liebal earned his first win of the season as he pitched five innings with seven strikeouts and allowed only one hit.
Pat Elias and Sean Lucas each went 2-for-3 with a double and Elias had three RBIs. Matt Madrid drove in three runs with two base hits.
