Landfill company asks to be taken off board's agenda

GIRARD -- The Girard Board of Health will not be discussing a proposed construction and demolition debris landfill at tonight's meeting because the company asked to be removed from the agenda.
Mayor James Melfi said Tuesday he didn't know why officials with Total Waste Logistics changed their minds.
A woman answering the cell phone for Guy Fragle, company manager, said he was not available and they were not accepting messages.
The mayor said the company can still bring the matter before the board at a later date.
"I wish they would just pull it off altogether," Melfi said.
The company took out an application for a license from the city health department June 9. The company had wanted to locate a CDD landfill on 19.9 acres off U.S. Route 422.
The proposed landfill would be adjacent to the Creekside Golf Dome.
