Police conduct ID checks at liquor stores

BOARDMAN -- Five of the eight carry-out liquor stores where police conducted alcohol compliance checks on Saturday followed requirements of Ohio's age-of-sale law.
Of the eight checked, two clerks failed to ask for identification and one failed to properly check the driver's license of the underage informant, police said.
The stores that failed will be checked again in the near future and, if they fail again, the clerk and the permit holder will be cited.
Stores that passed were Cochran Sparkle, South Avenue; Marc's, Tiffany Boulevard; BP Gas Station, Boardman-Poland Road; and Speedway Gas Station, Midlothian Boulevard.
Clerks working at Shell Food Mart, East Western Reserve Road; Get-Go, South Avenue; and Country Fair Food Mart, South Avenue, didn't follow the proper procedures in asking for and checking identification of people who attempted to buy alcohol.
