62-year-old Youngstown man in critical condition after beating

YOUNGSTOWN -- A city man was in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center Monday evening after being beaten up by his residence earlier in the day.
Harold Brock Jr., 62, of Martin Luther King Boulevard, remained on a ventilator in the trauma unit after being punched in the face and having his head slammed against concrete near his apartment.
Shortly before 1:30 p.m., police were called to the 900 block of Martin Luther King, where they found Brock unconscious. Witnesses told officers the assailant was a black male around 28 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, wearing braids and a gray sweat shirt, a police report shows.
According to the report, one witness said she saw the man knock on Brock's door and demand that he come outside. When the victim emerged, the assailant grabbed Brock by the neck, tossed him on the sidewalk, straddled him and struck him three times in the face, the report shows. The witness added that the assailant fled northbound on foot.
Another witness told police Brock agreed to drive a woman to the bank in exchange for $5, the report states. The two argued about the money, and suddenly a man appeared and struck Brock in the face and repeatedly banged his head on the concrete, according to the report.
No arrests have been made.
