CENE PARK Stark Co. Stars capture tourney



The Astro Falcons lost to the Mountaineer Park Hitmen.
STRUTHERS -- Stark County Stars scored three runs in the first inning and two more in the second, and went on to defeat Andy's 9ers 5-2, in the championship game of the Bob Cene Memorial wooden bat tournament at Cene Park.
Ryan Baechel drove in the game's first run with a double, and scored the second on an error. The third run was driven in by Jon Lutton. Troy Ellis drove in the first run in the second with a double and scored the last run on a single by Derek Dawson. That was the last hit allowed by losing pitcher Kevin Komazec, who retired the next 13 batters in order.
Andy's got on the board in the sixth. A leadoff single by Dan Ezzo was followed by a triple by Trey Bennett. Bennett scored the final run on a groundout.
Winning pitcher Heath Hinkle had three strikeouts and walked one. Stark finished the tournament undefeated at 5-0, while Andy's was 4-1.
Mountaineer Park Hitmen 6,Astro Falcons 1
The Hitmen broke open a 1-1 game with two unearned runs in the fourth, and scored three insurance runs in the seventh. Andrew Fie had a double and a single, as did Ryan Laboy for the Hitmen. Alex Oles added a pair of singles.
Winning pitcher Zach Rosenbaum went six innings, allowing four hits with nine strikeouts.
Kolten Hoffman went six innings, allowing only one earned run for Astros. He had three strikeouts.
Stark Stars 8, R & amp; J Trucking 4
Nick Baker hit a bases-loaded triple in the top of the fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie. Baker added a single while Derek Dawson and Sam Campitella had two hits each for the Stars.
Joe Rosko and Xavier Goday had two singles each for R & amp; J Trucking who finished the tournament at 1-3.
GlenOak Eagles 7, Roth Brothers 2
GlenOak scored seven times in the fourth through sixth innings to win their first game. Kyle Foss and Nick Depasquale had two hits each for the Eagles while John Wardle had two hits and Ben Mackall a double for Roth.
Rich Bertka tossed a complete game with four strikeouts.
Rondinelli 5, R & amp; J Trucking 3
Rondinelli rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the win to finish at 2-2. Tom Clayton had a pair of hits and three RBIs, and scored the go ahead run on a double by George Kovac.
Phil Williamson added a double and a single for Rondinelli while Dan Babyak tossed two scoreless innings for the win.
Ed Rohan had two hits for R & amp; J.
Mink Financial 3, Roth Brothers 0
Ryan Myers tossed a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts as Mink finished 2-2. Myers added two hits and drove in one run while Kevin Lee had a pair of hits.
A. J. Pulice had a double for Roth (0-4).
Andy's 9ers 2,Koch Construction/Line Drive 0
Adam Gray tossed a one-hitter with four strikeouts and Andy's scored a pair of unearned runs off losing pitcher Kevin Sikora, who allowed only three hits with four strikeouts.
John Blike drove home the first run on a sacrifice fly in the third inning, while Trey Bennett executed a suicide bunt in the sixth.
Nate Tacsik had the only hit for Koch/Line Drive.
