Woman found bound in park

YOUNGSTOWN -- A 27-year-old Steel Street woman was hospitalized after being found partially dressed under a culvert in Mill Creek Park with her hands bound with nylon rope, MetroParks Police Chief Nate Pinkard said.
The chief said a passer-by spotted the woman near Calvary Run, just off Milton Avenue on the West Side, around 5:50 a.m. Friday and park police were sent to the scene. Pinkard said the woman, who reported she was sexually assaulted, has psychological problems, and he's trying to sort out what happened.
The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. Pinkard said Friday that she's doing OK.
Pinkard said the woman walked into the park Thursday evening and it's not clear why she didn't walk back home because her feet were not bound with rope. He said her husband called city police Thursday evening and again early Friday to report her missing.
The woman had some bruises, Pinkard said. He said he needs to determine if the bruises are new because she has had bruises from an undisclosed medical problem in the past.
Youngstown Detective Sgt. Ron Rodway is assisting in the investigation. Pinkard said the city always lends a hand when something happens in the park.
