SANDLOTS Three teams perfect through second day of Bob Cene tourney



The top two teams will play for the championship today.
STRUTHERS -- Joe Koch Construction/Line Drive Academy, Andy 9ers and Stark County Stars remained unbeaten in pool play following Saturday's action in the Bob Cene Memorial Wooden Bat Tournament at Cene Park.
All three teams, now 3-0, won twice during the day as 10 games were played.
Koch takes on Andy's 9ers at noon today for the Pool B title and Stark goes against R & amp; J Trucking in Pool A at 2:30 p.m. The championship contest is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Koch/Line Drive 8, Mink 1
Koch used 10 singles and the pitching of John Izzo to upend Mink (1-2).
Corey Martin, Anthony Porter, Kevin Sikora and Nate Tacsik had two hits apiece with Tacsik driving in three runs. Izzo scattered four hits with seven strikeouts to pick up the win.
Jason Davis led Mink with a double and single.
Koch/Line Drive 9,Roth 1
Tied at 5, Koch/Line Drive scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Anthony Porter hit a double to trigger the winners' 14-hit attack. Tom Enyeart pitched a complete game to pick up the win.
Andy 9ers' 6, GlenOak Eagles 1
Andy's John Blake hit the first home run of the tournament, a two run shot in the third inning, and drove in four runs.
Andy's 10,Roth 1
Andy's used a 11-hit attack to win. Lou Kastelic had three hits, drove in three runs and pitched the first six innings to pick up the win. Doug Snider added three singles.
Kyle Pitts hit a triple and a single for Roth (0-2).
Stark Stars 4,Mountaineer Hitmen 2
Derek Dawson drove home the go-ahead run with a single in the sixth inning. Jack Murphy hit a double and single and Nick Baker had two hits for Stark Stars.
Stark Stars 11,Rondinelli 1
Stark Stars scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the second.
Brett Thoms scattered six hits to pick up the win. Troy Ellis hit three singles.
Rondinelli 3,Astros 0
Hayden Johnson hit a two-run double for Rondinelli. He also hit a single.
George Kovac worked the first six innings, allowed six hits and struck out five to pick up the win. Dan Babyak threw a perfect seventh inning for a save.
John Mang led Astros (0-3) with two hits.
Mink Financial 11,GlenOak 4
Mink, leading 7-4, put the contest out of reach as it scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Mink had seven hits and took advantage of 10 walks, three hit batters and six GlenOak errors.
Joe Vaugh hit two singles and Ryan Myers drove in three runs for Mink. Josh Tedesco pitched a complete game and allowed only one hit over the final four innings to pick up the win.
Craig Knott and Dan Henderson each had two hits for GlenOak.
R & amp; J Trucking 8,Astros 3
R & amp; J Trucking took advantage of nine walks as it scored three runs in the third inning and five more in the fourth.
Ed Rohan and Mike Welce each had two hits to pace R & amp; J. Bill Sattler pitched a complete game as he scattered four singles and struck out six to pick up the win.
Mountaineer 11, R & amp; J Trucking 5
Mountaineer Hitmen (2-1) sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth inning to score seven runs.
Casey Frawley hit a triple, two doubles and drove in two runs for the Hitmen. Winning pitcher Jordan Karchar added two hits.
