Mass and dinner celebrate 50 years for the Becks



XBOARDMAN -- Mr. and Mrs. M. Frank Beck, 8068 Deerpath Drive, were honored June 11 on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple renewed their wedding vows during a Mass celebrated at the Youngstown Club by their close friends, the Rev. James B. Muller of St. Dominic Church in Washington, D.C., and the Rev. Timothy O'Neill of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard. A dinner was held afterward at the club.
Hosting the celebration were the couple's children and their spouses, Dr. M. Frank Jr. and Jennifer Beck of Poland, David and Betty Jane Valle of Cuyahoga Falls, and John and Ashley Beck of Dallas, along with their seven grandchildren.
Mr. Beck and the former Mary Louise McGovern were married June 4, 1955, at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown.
Mrs. Beck is a retired registered nurse, having graduated from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. She is a member of Seton III and the National Council of Catholic Women, and has been active at St. Charles Church in Boardman since 1966.
Mr. Beck, who was a captain in the Army, is a retired teacher and coach, having spent 45 years in the field of education. He coached basketball for 33 years and football for 15. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Youngstown State University, and his master's in counseling from Westminster College. He was inducted in the Ursuline High School Hall of Fame, the YSU Hall of Fame and the Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame, and is a member of YSU's Penguin Club, Football Alumni and Alumni Association.
