CLASS AA BASEBALL Roth Brothers blank Yo. Metros behind Jackson's five-hit effort
YOUNGSTOWN -- Keith Jackson scattered five hits with two strikeouts through 61/3 innings as Roth Brothers shut out Youngstown Metros 2-0 in the Class AA League at Oakland Field.
With two outs in the seventh inning, Metros loaded the bases as Scott Bender singled and Brent Parks and Josh Conkey each walked.
Brian Fransco came on in relief for Roth and the last Metros' batter was out at first unassisted.
Roth scored the only run it needed in the second inning as Benny Wardle hit a double and came home on a single by Joe Bettura.
Eric Jones hit a home run leading off the fourth inning for Roth Brothers.
Sean Wardle and Benny Wardle led Roth Brothers with two hits apiece.

Metro Ice defeated the LBW Dawgs 5-4 in 10 innings as Zajackowski was 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base.
Ice manager Matt Vadas finished 2-for-3 and relief pitcher Jeremy Krol entered the game in the ninth inning, striking out two while giving up only one hit for the win.
The Dawgs' Ryan Keller was 2-for-5.
Lone Wolf Freight Systems defeated Bazetta-Cortland Optimists 6-0. Andy Grunder, T.J. Groaner and Mike Lepro each had two hits for Lone Wolf. Winning pitcher Chris Palm struck out five.
Brandon Keck hit a third inning double that drove in two runs as D & amp;K Roofing defeated Predator Trucking 3-2.
Predator's Luke Boggs had a two-run single.
Andrew Burnett was the winning pitcher, while losing pitcher Jake Zatchok struck out nine.
